Barbara, my daughter Debbie is uterine primary like yourself. With several
mets to both lungs, she also started chemo. Doxil was the oncs choice so we
went with that first. Be alert that some people (especially blue eyed blondes)
have an allergic reaction when the Doxil is first started. I was informed on
this by someone on the list. I told the infusion team to start the drip slow
and then increase because of this concern. Debbie is blonde, but hazel eyes.
They did not believe me. Sure enough a few minutes into the drip, Debbie had
a reaction and they had to stop the drip, give benedryl and restart like I
had suggested. I do not tell you this to scare you, just be aware if you feel
flushed and turn red, you are probably having a reaction. Other than that,
Debbie tolerated the chemo very well. Just be sure to take the meds they give
you. Debbie had no response from the Doxil, she then tried temodar and had
partial response for four months. Then we tried Gemcitibine and taxotere, and got
good response to where she was operable. Uterine primaries seem to respond
well to the G/T combo and some on temodar. For what it is worth. Good luck
and hoping you get a great response.
